Topic: sensitivity to background noise

I set the sensitivity level to only listen to the loudest inputs but it still interrupts the script with almost any noise...even breathing.  How do we make the system less sensitive to background noise?

Re: sensitivity to background noise

Sensitivity is the only setting that controls sensitivity to background noise. Unfortunately, conference phones and headsets often alter a phone's sensitivity. We recommend using DTMF only as much as possible, and to only use speech recognition when absolutely necessary.

Re: sensitivity to background noise

this is happening even when speaking directly into a landline phone, no headset or conference phone.  capturing speech and speech to text capabilities are critical to our application as DTMF cannot capture much of the info we need.  I know many companies like Verizon and others that use speech recognition very successfully without that level of sensitivity.  if we cannot figure out a solution to the problem, we cannot use plum voice.  can you look at our settings and see if there is anything that you can do to improve the sensitivity performance?

Re: sensitivity to background noise

We have reviewed and called into your app and did not experience any sensitivity issues. Can you give us an example of some inputs you're having trouble with? Please list step by step how to reproduce the problem. Also, we recommend getting rid of voice recognition wherever possible. For example, several of your inputs allow the user to press 1 or say "something." We recommend eliminating the voice recognition option, so users will just being able to press 1.

Re: sensitivity to background noise

I was having the same issue, but only sporadically. I think I just fixed it though, by removing the voice prompt text and adding it to a simple prompt just prior to the voice prompt. So the process flow plays the intro prompt without interruption and then when it enters the voice prompt, the system just beeps and the person is able to record their audio.
